Safety First

Robert J. Sagendorf, CHST, CSP , Corporate Safety Director has twenty years of experience in the manufacturing, industrial, and construction industry. He is responsible for all health and safety activities for construction as well as safety and health audits for all work sites. His duties include conducting safety meetings, training, new employee and subcontractor orientations, development of client site specific safety plans, and compliance measures for OSHA, NJDEP, and DOT. Other responsibilities include managing all medical, workers compensation, and general liability activities.

Safety Awards

The U.S. Department of Labor, OSHA, created the VPP to recognize and encourage excellence in occupational safety and health protection. It is their highest award given. Eii Inc. received two Star VPP awards with regard to their safety efforts at the Infineum Bayway Chemical Plant and the Linden Technology Center. Eii Inc. is the only electrical contractor in the State of New Jersey approved by OSHA to be part of the VPP program. They join Torcon Inc. as the only two construction companies in the State of New Jersey with this recognition for excellence in safety. There are fewer then six hundred worksites, nationwide, that have been recognized as STAR VPP. Eii Inc. has joined an elite class of companies in its approach to Safety and Health.

On November 3rd, 2001 the American Subcontractors Association (ASA) of New Jersey held their annual awards dinner. Eii Inc. was awarded the ASA Safety Award for working over 500,000 manhours safely. Eii Inc. was given the award for achieving the highest levels of safety by providing a safe environment for its employees and serving as a role model for the construction industry.

Eii Inc. received the Liberty Mutual Safety Silver Award because their Incidence Rate was less than 50% of the industry average for more than 1.5 million workhours. The period ranged from 1/1/97 to 6/30/00
